Are you Ready?: MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition

MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition is back for it’s third year at Northwestern. A friendly competition between the Master’s of Engineering Management Program Consortium schools, seven universities will have the opportunity to participate in this business challenge.

During this web‐based simulation competition participants will run a simulated domestic automobile company, make decisions as a team, and compete against other MEMPC schools. The simulation will run over multiple iterations, simulating a multi‐year (simulated) span of time. The competition will run from February 1st-March 3rd.

“We’re excited to once again be apart of the MEMPC PriSim Business War Games Competition,” said David Semb, a Partner at PriSim Business War Games Inc. and an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University. “The challenges the students will encounter over the 5-week competition will mirror what they’ll see i their careers in the real world. They’ll need to make the types of decisions that senior leaders are expected to make in any successful business.”

Each MEMPC school will select their own students to form a homogeneous “Management Team” of four students with a maximum of two teams per school. Teams compete directly against each other with the results being dependent upon how the competitors interact, what new products are introduced, and how these products are supported. The simulation will run in StratSimManagement which has been used by thousands of students since the mid‐1990s.

When asked about advice for students who wish to participate, David Semb suggests to set a mission for their company early in the competition, and to stick to the core of that mission. But most importantly, to approach the competition as an opportunity to practice business decision-making and to broaden their network – whether they “win” or “lose”!

What a great opportunity to build a strong foundation in strategic management, network and win a Nexus 9 tablet! Interested participants must sign-up by January 22nd! Pre-organized teams are not necessary to sign-up. Register now: http://goo.gl/forms/OQkUDODZdl
