NUvention: Web + Media is a two-quarter capstone course offered by the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Northwestern University, where students work across disciplines and schools to design, plan, and run web-based businesses.
Within MEM, NUvention Web + Media as well as other NUvention classes (Analytics, Medical, Energy, etc.) are available to students either as part of the Advanced Engineering Methods electives or as general electives and can count towards attaining the Design and Innovation Certificate.
Currently, some MEM students are taking the class and are coursing their second quarter. Tomorrow, Tuesday April 28th, they will have their launch event.
There are three teams with MEM students and they are pursuing very exciting and interesting start-up ideas:
- Helm: A mobile app that helps you stay safe when using car-sharing services like Uber or Lyft.
- BabyNinja: An intelligent iPhone and Apple Watch app for tracking baby activities.
- Thimble: An online studio for aspiring indie fashion designers to brand themselves and curate their outfits.
The launch event will be held in the Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, at the second floor of the Ford Motor Company Engineering Design Center (2133 Sheridan Road. Evanston, IL. 60208) from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Lunch will be provided on a first-come first-served basis.
You are invited to come and join fellow MEMers as well as fellow NU students!
