The beginning of the academic year is a momentous time in the lives of students and faculty alike. It is a time in which we bid farewell to last year while greeting fresh challenges and making preparations for the year to come. Thus it is that we say a fond goodbye to Elizabeth Rossman and extend the warmest of welcomes to the new Associate Director of the MEM Program: Stephen Tilley!

Although Stephen is a new face in the MEM Program, some of you may recognize him from his previous role as Assistant Director in the McCormick Office of Career Development. Some faculty and alumni may recognize him from his undergraduate days, since Stephen is also a Northwestern alumnus with two engineering degrees: a BS in Industrial Engineering and a BS in Manufacturing Engineering. He also has his Masters of Business Administration, with concentrations in marketing and general management, from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

When asked what he hopes to bring to the program, Mr. Tilley had this to say: “I have come full-circle from the world of engineering back to the program that trained me . . . I want to continue its tradition of academic excellence, but also help energize the students and continue to build a strong MEM community. I am entering the MEM Program at a great time, with new office space opening which will allow the program better serve students.  I also look forward to hearing from students regarding any way I can improve their experience.” Well-spoken, Steve!

On behalf of everyone in the MEM Program, welcome to the team!

If you would like to extend a more personal greeting, Stephen Tilley can be reached via email at: stephen-tilley@northwestern.edu, or you can stop by the office and say hello!
